According to People, she remained in contact with her family during the early part of her trip, but communication ceased after Saturday, June 20. She was scheduled to return to Australia on Sunday, June 21, but never boarded her flight home.
Authorities, including Red Rock Search & Rescue and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, have confirmed that she was officially reported missing after failing to return. Investigators noted that she had booked a bus ticket from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, where she intended to connect to her international flight. However, records indicate she never scanned the ticket or appeared for her departure flight.
Contarino was last seen near Mount Charleston, located approximately 35 to 45 miles northwest of the Las Vegas Strip. Security footage from Timbers Bar & Grill in Las Vegas also captured her walking along a street a day before her disappearance. She was seen leaving the venue at approximately 10:30 pm on June 19, wearing dark-colored shorts, a tank top, and black-and-white Converse shoes.
A viral video, later identified as one of her last known public sightings, has intensified attention on the case. The footage shows a young woman believed to be Contarino standing outside a 7-Eleven store on Boulder Highway in Las Vegas. The clip was recorded by Instagram creator @epicDamianpov, who often films himself approaching women in public spaces. Using Meta smart glasses, he is seen approaching her and asking, “Sorry, I saw that you were very beautiful and I was wondering if I could get your number, by chance?”
The woman smiles and responds, “I have a boyfriend.” When asked further whether she was waiting for someone, she replies, “No, I’m just going to have a cigarette and go inside.” The creator then leaves and later uploaded the video on June 28, captioning it “Trying to pickup a beautiful woman.”
Social media group Real Vegas Locals, which has been assisting in spreading awareness about Contarino’s disappearance, stated that it obtained the original file and reviewed its metadata. The analysis reportedly showed that the video was recorded on June 17 at 3:46 pm local time. Authorities have clarified that there is no suggestion that the content creator is connected to her disappearance.
Investigators continue to examine Contarino’s movements in the days leading up to June 20, as search efforts expand across multiple locations linked to her travel itinerary. Her case remains open, with officials maintaining the classification of “endangered missing adult.”
